Dr. Naji Al-Mutairi, KISR’s Director General, received a delegation from the University of California at Los Angles (UCLA). The visit was in the framework of the implementation of the agreement that was recently signed between the two sides.

Ms. Souad Al-Houty, and Dr. Sahar Zaghloul represented KISR’s Food Technology Team.

Discussion during the meeting was about the importance of good nutrition for individuals, so as to be healthy and able to achieve one’s duties efficiently. It was proven that the fact of not getting enough food, affects development of communities. The health experts pointed out the importance of changing daily unhealthy habits, and incorporate exercise in one’s daily routine. They stressed on the importance of walking, which is the best means of prevention from numerous diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. They confirmed that, nowadays, people start getting such diseases at an early age compared with older generations. This is due to the fact that young people do not exercise, and eat fast food.

At the end of the visit, the two sides agreed on activating their partnership by organizing workshop and symposia, and drafting an integrated plan for the implementation of the agreement.
